Don’t get your tinsel in a tangle (Spice up your everyday hair for a holiday party!)

Trying to decide how to do your hair for a holiday party can be overwhelming. If you're anything like me, then you want to style your hair in a way that is festive, fun, and pretty but doesn't require a lot of extra time or skills that you may not have. I have three easy hairstyles you can dress up your holiday party look with, regardless of your hair type or length, and won’t add a lot of extra time.

Style 1: Fancy Deep Part

  • Use a comb to style a deep side part. (Deep side parts automatically equal glamour!)

    • If you normally part your hair to the side, go ½ to 1 inch further than usual.

    • The deep part should line up with the high point of your eyebrow.

  • On the lighter side of your head, use 3-4 barrettes to hold the hair back.

    • Go as fancy or festive as you like. Choose embellished or jeweled barrettes, or even spray paint a plain barrette or in my case a bobby pin into holiday colors.

Style 2: Half-Up with a Ribbon

  • Start with your preferred part (center or side.)

  • Lightly curl your hair

  • Pull hair from the crown, straight back into a half-up/half-down hairstyle

  • Secure the hair with a clear elastic

  • Loosen hair around the sides of your face for a more relaxed, boho feel.

  • Tie the ribbon of your choice around the elastic. (Velvet always feels more fancy!)

Style 3: Fancy Top Knot

  • Pull hair into a slicked-back ponytail on the top of your head.

    • Tease the ends of the ponytail to give it more volume

    • Wrap the ponytail into a bun, securing it with a bobby pin, but leaving some of the end out.

    • Add an accessory (embellished comb or barrette) over the ends so it looks like it’s actually holding the hair.)

Side note...adding a pretty lippie automatically adds a special glam element to any look.
